The Commission of Technical and Career Institutions (CICI) 。 The Commission on Institute of Higher Education (CIHE)。

On behalf of all the staff at Beau Soleil, I would like to wish you a very Happy New Year, and all best wishes for 2016.
As we start a new year and a new term, it seems fitting too to look back and to reflect upon the fantastic achievements and events of last term. After a final Celebration Assembly with seasonal readings, songs, reviews of the term and a formal farewell to Mrs King, we closed the year in spectacular fashion with an Arts showcase. Miss Davies, her cast and crew, all deserve rich praise for their role in producing The Clearing. With an evocative and innovative set design, superb acting and tight technical support, this was a truly engrossing and emotive piece of theatre. Mr Porter and his team of musicians, with staff and student choirs then gave us a wonderful concert which included sublime instrumentals, beautiful solos and one particularly memorable duet from Polina and Sadiq. Audience members were treated to an Art Exhibition as they left the building, and were able to enjoy some of the stunning work that our IB and GCSE students have been creating this term.
We are also delighted to announce the arrival of a very special Christmas present for Mr and Mrs Bates: Benjamin George Thomas Bates, who was born on Christmas Day afternoon! I am sure you will join us in wishing them all well.
Looking ahead, we have many exciting developments in the pipeline. Our new temporary classrooms are fully furnished and ready for lessons next week. The French section students will be moving back to the Grand Pont building, where they were originally located, whilst work on the new building is underway. The rooms have all been renovated over the Christmas break to ensure a high quality learning environment. We hope to start the major demolition work on site at the end of this term, with all the preparatory elements already underway. Please rest assured that Mr Ray and I will be liaising very closely with the building team to ensure that the impact on our day to day school life is kept minimal.
With a New Year comes the time for reflection and a fresh start. I hope that over the coming months all our school community will work with me in ensuring the highest standards of behaviour, appearance and academic endeavour. I will be asking students to think carefully about the choices they make and the impact of their behaviour on others, so as to maintain a positive and warm atmosphere of which we can all be proud.
This is the term of Mock examinations for Grade 10 and Grade 12. These provide an opportunity to track progress against examination criteria and an all-important rehearsal of working under examination conditions. I hope that the students have revised carefully over the holidays, following their teachers’ and tutors’ advice, as set out in the school reports published in December. Feedback on these examinations will be provided in the Parents’ Meetings on Friday, 12th February, from 9 am until 12. Further details will be sent out regarding this by your son or daughter’s Head of Section.
Finally, the snow is falling in Villars and we advise the parents of all students returning to school by private transport on Sunday to check the local weather forecast. In the event of heavy snowfalls, we recommend that drivers take due care and that vehicles are equipped with winter tyres and snow chains. In the highly unlikely event of the road to Villars becoming impassable, we shall inform parents via the school website and email. Should you have any questions regarding transport arrangements please contact Sian Rogenmoser: email@example.com Other queries regarding the start of term should be directed to the House parents who will be welcoming your children back to school this weekend.
We look forward very much to seeing the students this Sunday 10th January and to the start of a happy and successful second term.
Victoria Del Federico
